VENTING

I am a grandmother of three children who were abandon on my door step 11yrs ago one year after I adopted them, I was Contacted by CPS asking if I would take my nephew who is MR /Autistic/ Epileptic. So I now have four beautiful kids I am raising alone. I have since lost my home t foreclosure and now renting a house. However I lost my job of 18yrs making $4200,00 mo. and now working as a collector 10-8pm M - S @ $8.00 hr with commission which not much at all. My first pay check was for $622.00 my rent is #1,200.00 month my bills total to $682.00 that is light /gas /water/car insurance/ fuel/ phone-cable. I have my sister taking care of the kids thinking she would care for them as I would , But my kids reported to school that they were being beaten by there aunt. I was contacted by CPS to report to there office this is where I found out what the kids had reported. What makes me angry is that I can't afford rent & bills let alone day care . I find myself crying every night. I'm stuck I don't have the time to look for other work with better hours and the only vehicle we have is my sister's. So without my sister I would have no child care and ride to work. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

I have turned to CPS, A.G for Child Support, Social Security,and Welfare all said that the children would have qualified for some type of assistance had I not adopted and terminated parental rights. I had gotten tax adoption credit in 2002 for $6,400.00 to be paid every year until paid in full, but in 2003 the law changed, and I got nothing!! I did get SSI for disabled child which helps pay for his needs. I have D.A.D.S. that provides 22 hrs home health care, and on waiting list for four years now with M.D.C.P.. So what is this energy assistance, child care assistance,free phone,disabled child payments,and respite care? I can use any information you come across that will help me get started looking for the right help needed. May the good LORD grant you his good deed!!!

My goodness. You are certainly in a very tough spot!! My hat is off to you, as you have certainly been a wonderful grandmother and do not deserve what you are going through.
I do not know what the laws are in TX, but in other states, I know that adoptive parents get monthly "child support," to help them care for children who would otherwise be the responsibility of the state. You have probably already explored this, but if not, your caseworker should have informed you of it. Also, you should be able to get energy assistance and child care assistance and a free phone. And, with a disabled child, you should be able to get payments as well, from the state and respite care when you need a break. Please let me know what you have tried and I will try to help you find resources. I wish I had the funds to help you.
I will certainly be lifting you and these angels up in prayer!
